We hope you are all well and had some fun last week completing our winter themed activities at home.
This term, our topic is called 'Love Where You Live'. We will be learning more about the special country that we live in...Wales. This week, our focus will be 'sheep'.
Wales is well known for its sheep farming and did you know that there are over 10 million sheep in Wales - what a lot of sheep!!
Amser Stori / Story time
We have two stories to enjoy this week.
The first is a bible story called 'The Lost Sheep'. Click on the link below to listen to it. The video is just over 5 minutes long. PLEASE STOP THE VIDEO AT 4.50.

Read, Write, Inc
Continue to access the Read, Write Inc Speed Sounds 1 videos that will be shared this week. Click the link below which will take you to the Ruth Miskin YouTube Channel.
Can you find some things around your house that start with these sounds. Start by focussing on one sound, then add another if confident.
Play Kim's game (a memory game) with the objects. Put them in the middle of a table and look very carefully at them. Close your eyes and ask a grown up to take one of the objects away. Open your eyes, can you guess what it is? What sound does it start with?
Write the sounds
Can you practise to write the new sounds and also practise to write your name? There are so many fun ways to do this e.g in a plate of sprinkles, on a steamy window, using a wet paintbrush on a chalk board. Can you find a dfferent way each day to practise?
One less
In 'The Lost Sheep', the shepherd loses one of his sheep. He had 100 at the beginning but when he went to check on them, there were only 99there.
One less means to take one away. There are lots of number rhymes to help us practise 'one less'.
This is one of our favourite Welsh number songs that we like to learn for St.David's Day.
Join in and sing along with the number rhymes, counting the number of animals left each time. You could use some teddies or toys to help you.
When you take one away, can you guess how many are left before you count? Have a try to write or match the numbers.
Make your own sheep pen
Can you make your own sheep pen using some blocks or lego and use cotton wool balls for your sheep. How many sheep will you put in the pen? Can you count them? What if one of them gets lost? How many will you have left?
Enjoy a sing-song
There's a very famous nursery rhyme about a sheep, do you know it? Click on the video below to listen to it:
Pa liw / what colour?
In this version of the rhyme, the sheep changes different colours. What is your favourite colour? Can you sing 'baa baa black sheep' and change the colour of baa baa to your favourite colour? You could even try to say it in Welsh.
Make a sheep
Can you make your own sheep? There are so many lovely ways you could do it. Here are some ideas...
Dough Disco
If you have some play dough at home, why not take it to the dough disco! If you don't there are lots of simple recipes to make your own. This a great activity for strengthening those little finger muscles : )
Cosmic Kids Yoga
Join Jamie on her Cosmic Kids adventure in the video below. Cosmic Kids is great activity for young children combining yoga and mindfulness in a fun and simple way.
You'll need to clear a bit of space on your carpet and wear some comfy clothes.
There are lots of practical activites to help you develop and practise your skills this week so no need to upload any photos.
