Another week has gone by! I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the sunshine once again.
Lots of you have been keeping really busy and have sent me amazing photos, thank you!
I have commented on some of the activities and I have awarded you j2stars as well. This is a marking system that the whole school is now using for home schooling.
The children will be awarded stars for the following:
- Working hard
- Teamwork
- Being kind
- Magical maths
- Being creative
- Joining in
- On task
- Good listening
- Getting active
Each of you will find your stars by clicking on the following icon in Just2easy.
This will then take you to your j2stars and your own avatar. This week you could personalise your avatar by following these simple steps:
You will see an edit button, click on this:
This then takes you to a page where you can change the appearance of your avatar. Being creative will earn you a creative star!
When you have finished you then need to click on the Save button highlighted below:
Sounds/Letters
I hope you are all continuing to practice your sounds as much as possible. Here is a game that Mrs.Vowles said that the children loved playing in school:
There are lots of fun things you can do with sounds, here are some more ideas:
You can try this link for practicing letter and number formation:
I hope the children enjoyed Dough Disco last week, so here is another one for you:
Maths
Lets continue to use money and list writing throughout role play and during the day. Maybe the children could make a list of their favourite toys or superheroes too.
Remembering when the children make a list, encourage them to make their own marks and let them 'talk' about their own writing. If you feel they are ready to, then encourage them to try and find/write/copy the initial sound for each word on the list.
This week the children could focus on the skill of everything can be counted, not just objects. For example, clapping and stomping.
Include discussion by questioning, as much as possible during activities as well as during play. Try and include mathematical terms such as
- one more, one less
- First, second, third and last.
- larger, smaller
- hot, cold
Play maths games that include pairing objects and matching or sorting, your child should be able to explain about similarities and differences. Giving reasons behind their choices.
A great counting game the children are familiar with is
Under the sea counting
A great way to learn numbers is through song and actions, this is a lovely compilation of songs to have a listen to
Some of these songs include numbers 1 to 20 and involve counting backwards, so good luck!
Welsh
Here is a welsh story, Tedi Twt, for the children to listen to that will recap on previous vocabulary:
The children should be beginning to recognise familiar words and phrases from the story.
Last week the children should have listened to Lliwiau'r Enfys. Here are the colours to remind you
Can you ask the children what the colours are of objects around them and ask them the colours of the fruit and vegetables in our Supertato book.
Topic
There are lots of amazing characters in the story, can you recreate any of them? Here are some ideas you might like
You may have other even better ideas, I would love to see them!
Our topic is Calon Lan, which translates to Full of Heart, so I would like us to continue using Supertato and to focus on a Healthy Body. You can ask what does our body need? What do they think healthy means? What happens when we look after our bodies?
Focusing on Healthy food first, the children can have a look at this
There are lots of healthy foods in the story book, can you find foods in your house that are really good for you? Can You make a list of them? Or take a picture of some of the healthy foods you found.
Getting Active
We will still continue with the theme of dancing this week. Although feel free to choose any of the previous Getting Active links I have given you.
Ram Sam Sam
Go Bananas
Baby Shark
Daily Mindful Challenge
It is important to keep our minds healthy as well as our bodies. So here is a different daily breathing exercise for all the family.
I hope you all have a fantastic week and remember you do not have to complete all the tasks. Its all about enjoying your valuable time together too.
Take care and stay safe
Mrs. Boat
