On Monday we are taking the children to Cefn Mably Farm. The trip has been planned to introduce our new topic for the Spring term ‘Animal Antics.’ Whenever we start a new topic we use a stimulating activity called a ‘hook’ to initiate the children’s interest in what we will be learning about over the coming weeks.
During our trip we will be looking at the animals around the farm and discussing what they are and where they live. We are leaving school at 9:10am and returning from the farm at 12 mid day. On our return to school at approximately 12:30 the children will then have their packed lunch.
The weather is cold at this time of year and we need to consider this with small children. Hence the return time to school at 12. We have asked that you provide a packed lunch so the children can have the experience of eating with their peers but we will be having it in the warmth and comfort of our own classroom on our return.
The children who have started school this term will be collected at 1pm or for the afternoon attend their wrap around nursery session with Penygawsi Playmates.
The other children who are in the Reception class and who have attended Nursery since September stay all day.
For the parents who are new to the school and have children who have just started please rest assured that we are taking a great deal of adult support on our trip. We will all be making our way around the farm experience together in supervised groups.
