We have started our summer term topic which is ‘Wiggle, Dig and
Crawl’. We used our new interactive whiteboard and made a big mind map of
everything the children want to learn about. They came up with some really good
suggestions and we are looking forward to ticking them off our list as we learn
about them. We are currently focusing on the garden aspect of the topic. The
two main stories over the fortnight have been ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad and Oliver’s
Vegetables. We have been busy weighing fruits, creating a fruit salad recipe
and then it to make a fruit salad. We have also been down to the allotment to
prepare it ready for planting!
Since being back after Easter I have been very impressed with the
progress the children have made with their sound, reading and writing skills. We
have been focusing on saying and blending simple CVC words to hear/read the
words. The progression has been incredible. Reading is a very complicated
progress and children develop at very different paces. The link below is a
useful website which is full of resources for you to support your child at
home. Please come and see me if you have any questions.
Snack money is now overdue. If you are yet to pay snack money
for spring term and summer term then prompt payment would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Day and the nursery team.
