Welcome back to the last half term of the school year – I have no idea where the time has gone!
It would be lovely to say please ensure that all children have sun cream on and sunhats in school. Unfortunately that isn’t necessary! We just hope that the weather improves before the end of term so we can complete many of our activities outside in the sunshine.
May I remind you that snack money of £6 is now due. Prompt payment would be appreciated.
We have been busy practising for sports day this week and will continue with this next week. Don’t forget sports day is on Monday 25th June at 1.30pm – weather permitting!
Our trip looks like it will take place on Tuesday10th July. We are going to Penarth Pier and then, if it is a dry and warm day we will walk along the coastal path up to the near by park for a picninc, play and an ice cream. However, if it is not nice enough to picnic and play in the park, we will get back on the bus and go to ‘Coconuts’ in Penarth to play. We are just waiting to hear about the cost and confirmation that we can eat our own lunch at coconuts. As soon as it is confirmed, further details will follow.
Over the next few weeks we will be continuing with our ‘Sand between our toes’ theme. Activities will include:
- Creating a poem about seaside objects using our senses to help us
- Looking at different objects and predicting whether they will float or sink before testing and recording the findings
- Adding sets of different sea-side objects together and where appropriate recording our findings
- Weighing – which objects are heavy and light, heavier and lighter and heaviest and lightest
- Looking at some of the artist Andy Goldsworthy’s work as a stimulus before creating our own picture
- Making fish biscuits
- Moulding fish out of clay and using the play dough tools to add the scales
