We had a great Teddy Bears picnic last Friday and made over £275. Thank you very much for all of the support.




We are all enjoying our new topic. Although we would really like to see some lasting sunshine so we can complete some ‘beach like’ activities outside!

Over the next two weeks many of our activities will be based around the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. They will include:

· Testing materials to see if they are waterproof, before choosing the most appropriate material to make a boat for Mr Grinling

· Believe it or not, Mr Grinling wrote us a letter, asking for our advice!! He needs eat a more healthy lunch to keep him fit and healthy so that he can tend his lighthouse properly. He has asked us to create a healthy lunch for him, write it down and send it to him!!

· We will be making boats in the construction area. The children will be encouraged to draw a picture of the boat they want before building it. The children will be encouraged to use vocabulary such as ‘assemble’ and ‘join’.

· The children will listen to a story about two mice; one that lived in the country and one that lived by the sea. They will be encouraged to sort objects, animals and buildings according to whether they may find them at the seaside or in the countryside.

· Barrier games – the children will work in pairs, one child will have 4 pictures of slightly different seagulls, the other child will only have one of those pictures. That child will have to describe his/her seagull in great detail so that the other child can work out which picture their partner has. This is developing the children’s listening, processing, recounting and presenting skills

· In maths the children will be working with number, encouraging them to recognise numbers and where appropriate adding two numbers together.



As usual, PE, Music, Sound sessions and many other activities are running along side all focus tasks.



We are in the process of developing our Small World Area and would be very grateful if you could help your child to make a 3d vehicle of any kind that we may use in the area – many thanks.



We will be celebrating the Jubilee on Friday 1st June, the day we break up for half term. We will be having a whole school party during the afternoon. Please help your child make a crown or tiara to wear throughout the celebrations. Can you send these into school with the children on Friday 1st June? More details about the day will follow shortly, but thought giving you a few weeks notice about the crowns would be appreciated!
