Wythnos 6

Bore da,

I hope you have all enjoyed your half term and have had lots of fun. Thank you once again for all the fantastic photos you have shared with me. You have been very busy!

I have been contacting some families by phone. The purpose of the phone call is to check in and support the well-being of our pupils and their families. I enjoyed speaking with some of you and I hope it helped to reassure you. From this week onwards, I will aim to call around 5 pupils per week. This will be on a Tuesday or Wednesday and the call will be from a withheld number and it will just be a quick chat.

Suggested activities for this week

Topic

This week I would like you to create a poster about a character inspired by the Supertato book. It can be a hero or a villain. It's up to you!

When you are on your daily outdoor exercise have you spotted any posters? Here are some posters for you to take a look at:

When you create your poster try and make sure you include the following:
  • A bold Title
  • Lots of bright eye-catching colours
  • A clear picture of your character and their name
  • Some describing words
If you decide to create your own hero, like Supertato. What would you call him/her? What would be their super power be? Or if you create a villain, what naughty things has he/she done?

You may want to use real fruit or vegetables and take a photo, use paint or anything you may have available in the house. I am really looking forward to seeing these posters!

Here are some ideas for you:

A Healthy Body

Continuing with the Calon Lan theme, I would like this week to focus on the importance of Water.

I have put a Powerpoint on Hwb for you to look at the photos about Nirinasoa's daily walk to get water. There are questions for the children to think about. In addition ask the children about where we get water from, what do we need water for and how it compares to Nirinasoa's story.

If you Log in to HWB, open j2e, click 'shared' files, then click 'Y Felin Wynt' then you can access the Powerpoint there.

Sounds and Letter Formation

Continue to work on recognising sounds and your pencil control and letter formation. Here are some more lovely ideas on ways you could do this:

Here is a link to more on-line games for you:

The children would enjoy playing Skywriter, listening to the Phonic songs and playing the matching sound games.

Or maybe a Scavenger hunt in or outdoors:

Maths

Don't forget to keep practicing writing numbers or marking making. Play games with the numbers on line too, you will find some on this link:

Or be creative with toys and household items

This week we will focus on continuing a pattern, the children can use paper & pencils, household objects or toys to do this.

Have a go at this pattern game online (LEVEL 1):

Try and use lots of discussion when doing this and use familiar phrases such as, one more, first, last, next etc..

Welsh

The children need to become  familiar with stories from Wales, so here is a short welsh cartoon for the children to watch.

Ask the children if they remember St Davids Day in school. What did they wear? Do they remember making cawl with Mrs.Vowles? Can they remember trying the bara brith and the welsh cakes? What was their favourite one?

A lovely activity to recap on the weather would be to gather a collection of weather props and place them in a bag or box. This would include items such as gloves, scarves, bathers, sunglasses, umbrella etc...The children would then dress a teddy bear or themselves using the props. You could then practice

This could be extended by asking what colour the props the bear or child are wearing. 'Pa liw?'.

Staying Active

We have explored lots of different ways to keep active and I’m sure you have your favourites. Continue to use these ideas but if you would like to try something new, this term we will look at some activities based around Gymnastics. Here are some short videos for you to have a go at:

Daily Mindful Challenge

I hope you are enjoying our daily breathing challenges, you must still try and use the tummy and the bumble breathing techniques every day. Keeping a healthy mind also involves listening to things around you. So this week can you hunt for these:

When you go outside into your garden, find somewhere comfortable to sit and practice your favourite breathing exercise. Closing your eyes will help you focus. What can you hear? Can you hear everything that is on list? Did you hear anything else?

Have a fantastic week!
Stay safe and take care
