Dear Parents,
The children are now very settled
in both morning and afternoon sessions. All members of staff are very impressed
with how quickly they have settled into school life! This week I have started
assessing the children using the Foundation Phase Profile. We also introduced
short focus tasks to the children.
So far the children have been
measured to see how much they will grow this year, painted a balloon for our
birthday display, drawn a picture of themselves and been for a walk all around
the school grounds… which they loved!
There are still a few with no
wellingtons in school, please ensure there are some in school by next week as we
are planning to go to Forest School every Monday.
Can I also ask that you label the
inside of your child’s shoes? We noticed today that lots of them have no names
and this can cause lots of confusion when we get back from the Forest, thank
you!
HOME LEARNING TASK
Our topic this term is
‘Celebrations’. We are going to start the topic off by celebrating ourselves!
To introduce the topic, please could you and your child create an ‘All About
Me!’ poster? Learning at home can be just as fun as learning in school so
please make sure you involve your child with the creations, the more input they
have the better as they will be discussing the posters with the rest of the
class. Be as creative as you like, it can include lots of pictures, drawings,
birthday celebrations, siblings, pets, favourite colour etc. Please can all
posters be brought into school by 25th September; I am really
looking forward to seeing them!
SCHOOL LIBRARY
Reading books to your
children stimulates their
imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop
language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.
In school we have a great library full of books for children of all ages. Over
the next few weeks I will be grouping the children and visiting the school
library with them on set days. The children will have the opportunity to read a
variety of books and chose two to take home to read with you at home. On the
day your child visits the library, we ask that you send your child into school
with a book bag and small teddy (name clearly written) so your child can read
to their teddy during the library visits. We will start this scheme on the week
beginning the 25th September. I will post the days your child will
be going on the blog so keep your eyes peeled!
