As
you may be aware each class in school has their own bed in the allotment
area. As a class we are responsible for preparing the ground, sowing any
seeds or plants and maintaining its general upkeep, which will include watering
any plants planted. The children benefit enormously from this experience
and enjoy taking ownership of growing their own produce.
We
are currently looking at revamping the garden area as a whole. We have
decided to paint the fencing around the area with bright colours to attract the
children to want to be in there. We would like to construct a seating /
study area where the children can work in our beautiful outdoor setting.
Our main aim is that we want the garden to be utilised as much as possible; we
want the children enjoy to their time there.
With
that in mind we would appreciate any donations of the following:
Supplies – Pots: any size or colour,
compost, growbags, plant labels, etc.
Seeds/Plants – Tomatoes,
Cucumber, Shallots, Lettuce, Radish, Carrots, Potatoes, Courgettes, Broad
Beans, Dwarf Beans, Pumpkin Seeds, etc.
Herbs – Parsley, Mint, Chives, Rosemary,
Basil, Thyme, etc.
Flowers / Bedding Plants – Any
variety.
We
have a good and varied supply of tools for the children to use, an established
greenhouse, water butt and compost heap, but any of the above items would be
grateful to receive would be.
We
have been very fortunate that a parent has kindly arranged some Topsoil for the
area. However, if you have any tins of undercoat or colourful gloss that
you are tripping over in the shed or finding difficulty to home, we could
definitely put them to good use.
The
school has always thrived greatly on the consistent help of parents, friends
and pupils, and we thank you in advance for your continued support.
Miss
Day
