A new home for a Pirate!

Evening all,

It was lovely to catch up with the children last week. They all settled back into the school routine so well, especially the children that now stay all day! There appears to be a break out in chicken pox, in order to prevent spreading the infection, the children must stay at home until all spots scab over.

Snack money for the part time children is £3.50 and £7.00 for full time children, prompt payment is really appreciated.

Can you PLEASE make sure your child’s name is clearly written on all jumpers/cardigans, we ended up with a basket full of belongings with no names last term and I fully understand your frustration when they go missing.

Our ‘Land Ahoy’ topic is in full swing and the children are thoroughly enjoying and eager to learn. I have booked a pirate tour trip for the 18^th May, a letter will be going home one day this week with more information. We will need some helpers to attend the trip so please let me know if you are available, it will be first come first serve due to the amount of seats on the bus.

This week we have been completing focus tasks relating to the story ‘A new home for a pirate!’ Some of the activities include:

Literacy and Language Development

·     RWI sound sessions

·    ‘Hot Seat’ Jed the pirate to develop questioning skills and use of vocabulary

Mathematical Development

·     Practice counting forwards, backwards and on from a given number

·     Bounce is missing! The children need to use the positional language clues left by the pirates in order to find him. 

 Knowledge and Understanding

·     Sort land animals and under water animals by similarities

Creative Development

·     Develop cutting skills by creating a treasure map

Physical Development

·     Develop balancing skills by walking the plank!

Forest School

·    Look for signs of spring…finally!
