A Welsh Fortnight!

I hope you all had a great half term and spent some quality time together! This term consists of five very busy weeks.

In the next fortnight we will be celebrating St. Davids Day and preparing for the eisteddfod. Before half term we had a visit from a drama company called 'Welsh is Magic'. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching them, the performance included learning welsh phrases from a variety of books the children are already familiar with in English. Our favourite was 'Y Lindysyn Llwglyd Iawn' (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). So, we have chosen to complete our eisteddfod work from this book. Activities include:

Literacy and Language

·       Re-tell the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar

·       Write their names for the hand writing competition

·       Read Write Inc sessions

Mathematics

·       Simple addition

·       To understand positional language

Knowledge and Understanding

Cooking Welsh Cawl

Creative

·       To create a 3D Daffodil

·       To create a Welsh scene of sheep for the art competition

Welsh

·       Learn new Welsh songs to sing in the eisteddfod

Writing workshop

1.    To overwrite/ underwrite  ‘'Y Lindysyn Llwglyd Iawn'

2.    To draw The Very Hungry Caterpillar

3.  To practice letter formation in the shaving foam

Forest School

• To make bird food

P.E

To use their bodies to make straight shape and star shapes

Snack money this term is now due, as this term is 5 weeks it will be £10 (£2 a week)
