The Little Red Hen!

Next week, with the weather turning more autumnal, we will start our Autumn and harvest activities. The main story will be 'The Little Red Hen', although we will also be reading lots of 'Percy the Park Keeper' stories as well.  Some children have already brought in lots of conkers, so we have enough of them, but if you find any cones or acorns over the weekend please could you send some in. Not too many acorns as we need to leave plenty for the squirrels!
Our activities over the next two weeks include:

Literacy and Language
·     Sequencing the story of the ‘Little Red Hen’ using a story road
Mathematics
·     Beginning to recognise 2D shapes
Knowledge and Understanding
·     Tasting and describing different breads
·     Making salt dough bread to identify the changes in the materials
Creative
·     Making a 3D hen
Personal and Social
·     Circle time- discussing the importance of friendship
Welsh
·     Learning Welsh songs for the harvest assembly
P.E
·     Introducing the children to the ‘warm up garden’
Writing workshop
1.  Tracking a picture of a leaf
2. Moulding hedgehogs in the playdough
3. Cut and colour a picture of autumn leaves
Forest School
·     Making autumn crowns using natural objects found in the forest.
I hope you had a great weekend and the children have recharged their batteries for another busy week, as always if you have any concerns please come in and speak to one of us.
See you in the morning
Miss Day J

Hello,
It would be good if we could have a copy (or if you could post) the welsh songs so we can help the children learn them.
Thanks
Julia Collier
