The children are all very settled in school now. Most are very happy coming into school, and those that are not take a couple of minutes to settle after they have been left. Please can I ask that if your child is upset, to leave promptly as this does mean they become settled more quickly.

We now have most wellies in school and all those children with wellies have visited Forest School.If you haven't sent your wellies in please can you do so as soon as possible? - many thanks.

This week we will be starting out Autumn activities. The main story of the fortnight is going to be 'The Little Red Hen'. There are many versions of this story. If you have any at home, please can you send them in for us to read during story time? (please make sure the books have names in). Activities that we have planned over the next couple of weeks include:

• Autumn Walk - children will walk around the school grounds looking for signs of Autumn. They will discuss colour and what they can and can't see. The children will make an Autumn crown with what they find.
• Making play dough hedgehogs - the children will make a 3d hedgehog out of play dough. They will have a variety of materials to choose from to make the hedgehogs spikes. The children will be encouraged to choose the best material and explain why they have chosen it.
• Bread tasting -  Children will taste and feel a variety of different breads. They will be encouraged to describe the taste, feel and smell of the bread before deciding whether they like it or not. The children will then place a smiley face next to the picture of the bread they like the most - which will be the most popular bread?
• Circle time activity. The Little Red Hen's friends didn't help her make her bread. The children will discuss the importance of having good friends and what makes a good friend
• Little Red Hen Lotto
• Developing 1-1 correspondence - the children will be encouraged to match bags of flour to characters from the story 'The Little red Hen'.
• Helping to create a display of 'The Little Red Hen'

We will also be starting PE and music.

Please can you try and play pairs with your child. Encourage them to wait their turn, watch whilst others take their turn and remember when the cards are. To make it more achievable, just play with about 10 cards.

If you go on an Autumn walk this weekend, please bring us in some pine cones, acorns, Autumn leaves and anything Autumnal you might find.
